How does the information get to me?
After completing your order, you will receive an email within 48 hours and a 2003 excel file will be attached with all the information in it. You do need to have Microsoft excel on your computer in order to view it.
How do I read the data?
In the top left corner is the Team Name and down the first column is a list of all the different scenarios being analyzed (i.e. How the Team did on Turf, on the Road, at Home, etc…) The Next group of columns give you the statistics for the most recent year (2009) and it will tell you how many times that team beat the spread, lost to the spread, and the percentage won against the spread. The next group of columns, combine the last two years of statistics (2008 and 2009) and again tells you how many times that team beat the spread, lost to he spread, and the percentage won against the spread. And so on…
I only see one team on the spreadsheet, where are the rest?
At the bottom of your Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, you will see a row containing all the teams, just click on the team name to see that team. Use the arrows next to those team names to move the grouping to the left or right. (Hint a shortcut when using excel is to press the Ctrl and Page Down to move to the right one page and Ctrl and Page Up to move to the left one page.
Why do I see some years’ teams played more than 16 games?
The data is for all games played during that season, including playoffs and Super Bowls.
What year should I look at for the best results?
That’s the great part, you can decide what you think is best. Some people may want to look at the statistics from 20 years ago and others may only want to go back 5 years.
Why do some stats stop at the year 2000?
A few of the stats are only available back to the 2000 season (i.e. temperature,). You will have statistics back until then, but you will notice no changes to the statistics after that year.
How do I eliminate the colors on the columns/forms?
In order to clearly separate each year’s statistics, there are colors in the cells. If you would prefer eliminating these colored cells, click the cell(s) that you would like to eliminate the color from, FORMAT, click PATTERN, click NO COLOR.
The NFL has not always had the same teams in the division like they do now, how was that handled?
The statistics act as though the NFL has always been aligned like it is now. Even though Houston used to be in the AFC North, they are considered an AFC South team now and so in all the data back to 1985, they are considered an AFC South team.
